The creation of this blog stemmed entirely from my discovery of Tammy Donroe's blog Food on the Food, which I loved because it gathered together some of my favorite things--food, dirty humor, and food, just to name a few. From there I branched off into various food blogs, which eventually took up enough space on my browser toolbar that I relegated them into their own folder. I am always open to new reading material, so if you have any food blogs with biting satirical wit (or photos of delicious food, for that matter) feel free to send me some links.
Anyway, onto the point: a while ago, I thought it would be a brilliant (not) to make a blog about the eating adventures I will undoubtedly be embarking upon soon when I go to college. Because college students are just known for their terrific cooking, right? I mean, that grilled cheese Macgyvered out of aluminum foil and an iron--culinary genius!
But no, really. As much as I like fries in a paper cup, I demand variety in my diet, dammit! Although that doesn't mean I won't reach for the Top Ramen now and then, I refuse to live off Papa John's and rehydrated food. And on top of that, I just received news a few days ago that I was assigned to a suite-style dorm building that has a kitchen consisting of a stovetop, microwave, and refrigerator. Minimalist, but better than nothing. You can bet I will be making use of it. Furthermore, my school is located smack-dab in the middle of Manhattan. Which means I will access to more than just my school cafeteria (thank god). Anyone care to send me a list of restaurants to try out? Remember, I'm a college student, so the price can't be through the roof. I do have an affinity for ramen and yakisoba and other Japanese cuisine, however...
Yeah, my food blog might actually have some mention of food I've made or eaten on it in the future. Maybe tomorrow.
